Lost Dragon Tooth

Growing Up

Our baby dragon is growing up. We named her Hyrlu. She has already lost some of her teeth and the new ones are growing in behind where the baby teeth came out.

Lost Tooth

But we had a problem the other day, Hyrlu was eating a large piece of meat when one of her teeth came out. She was enjoying her meal so much that she didn’t notice the tooth had come out and she swallowed it!

Dragon Tooth Fairy

Why was it a problem? Because she thought the dragon tooth fairy would not come and leave her a piece of gold. All dragons have a hoard of gold. They start building it when they are very young, beginning with the gold pieces left by the dragon tooth fairy. Once Hyrlu noticed her tooth was missing and realised she had swallowed it, she rampaged and raged up and down the mountain, trampling so loudly that people in the valley below thought there was an earthquake coming, or the volcano was about to erupt!

Called The House Fairy

We could not calm her down, so we called the House Fairy to see if she could do anything. Well she told us she was NOT going to search through Hyrlu’s dragon poo to look for the swallowed tooth but she said she knew the Dragon Tooth Fairy and that she would talk to her to see whether anything could be done.

Lots Of Swallowed Teeth

After the House Fairy visited the dragon tooth fairy, she told us that it turns out that lots of young dragons swallow their teeth, especially when eating their juicy fresh meat. And the Dragon Tooth Fairy always knows when young dragons lose their teeth and comes to visit anyway. She said that Hyrlu should say a special poem charm for the lost tooth, then breathe fire onto a stone and scratch her name on it and leave it in her sleeping nest, when she went to sleep. That would give the Dragon Tooth Fairy permission to collect the tooth if she managed to find it and she would still leave Hyrlu a gold piece.

Here is the poem that Hyrlu said:

Dragon Tooth Fairy, tooth fairy wise,
I swallowed my tooth, what an awful surprise.
I had it all gleaming, all ready to pop it
but it went down my throat and I just couldn’t stop it.
If you can find it, I promise it’s yours,
But please leave my gold piece nestled under my claws.

Dragon Tooth Fairy Came

Well, the next morning the special stone was gone and a gold piece was left in its place. Hyrlu was very pleased. We never did find the tooth so we think the Dragon Tooth Fairy must have managed to find it after all.

New Earth Dragon Here

Baby Earth Dragon completely hatched

Baby Earth Dragon completely hatched

Our baby earth dragon has finally arrived and her eyes are red! That means she is a ruby earth dragon. Now we have to feed her. Baby dragons take a long time to hatch and when they hatch out, they are VERY VERY hungry. We went hunting for meat once we knew the egg was hatching and we have plenty ready to feed her.

It took a while after the lightning struck and the egg cracked for our baby dragon to start breaking out of the shell. We were beginning to get worried but here it is. It doesn’t really look like either of us but as one of us is a water dragon and the other a lightning dragon, it is likely going to be an earth dragon, especially as we can now see that it is green. Not long now before we know whether it is a boy or a girl dragon.

Egg Hatching

Egg hatching after being hit by lightning

The egg has been hit by lightning and is starting to hatch. It is cracking open. Thank goodness the House Fairy arrived in time to get some pictures. The egg was nicely swollen out by the water and heated by the volcano and now, the lightning has struck just at the right time and soon our baby dragon will be here. We can hardly wait to see it.

The lightning Strikes

Now that the egg has finished heating, we are going to move it to the hot sands on lightning volcano. It has swelled up and warmed up and we know our baby dragon is nearly ready to hatch. The volcano has quietened down a bit, though plenty of lava is still spilling over the edge and now, the lightning has started. Thee are plenty of electrical storms crackling over the volcano and we will put the egg on the sands and wait for a lightning strike to help it hatch. Shouldn’t be long now. Hope the House Fairy will be able to bring her camera again to take some pictures of it. Can’t wait to see our new baby dragon.

At Lightning Volcano

We have finally managed to get our dragon egg to Lightning Volcano! We had to be very careful as it is erupting at the minute and we don’t want the egg to dry out after letting it soak for a good long while. That soaking swelled it up until it looked like an egg, allowing our baby dragon to grow inside it. That stone shape is a great disguise while the eggs have to soak but now it has to lie on the hot sands for a while, heating up, to allow our baby dragon to finish growing and then we will need to move it to the hatching sands, where the lightning strikes will help it hatch!

Egg Safe and Sound

Our baby dragon egg has been found. We are SO happy. Thank you very much to the House Fairy who brought it safely back to us. We have checked it out and

Dragon's Egg starting to glow

it’s starting to glow. It has to stay near water for a while longer, before we can take it to the lightning volcano for hatching. The House Fairy says that a little girl she calls a “Snuggle Bunny” kept it safe for us. If she’s a bunny – can we eat her? The House Fairy says this little girl is called Olivia and she wants us to come and live with her but her house would be too small to hold us – we are very big and our magic might make it fall down! I suppose if she kept our egg safe, we shouldn’t eat her – even if she is a snuggle bunny! The House Fairy says that would be rude. We are wild dragons, not tame ones. You might see us swirling in the sky sometimes, especially when it’s stormy.

Lost Dragon Egg

Has anyone seen our dragon egg? It’s lost and we can’t find it. We are getting very worried about the egg. Our egg MUST be found soon or it will die and our little dragon chick will never hatch. Please help us to find it. We are magical dragons, I am its mummy – a water dragon. Its daddy is a lightning dragon.

Our egg was laid on the slopes of a volcano, near heat, like all dragon eggs. But once it has finished being baked, it needs to rest in a wet place for a while and then it has to be struck by lightning before it can hatch. We took it from the volcano, to Slemish mountain in Northern Ireland. It is normally very wet there but it has been a dry summer and we left it for longer to make sure it got thoroughly soaked and now we can’t find it.

If anyone knows where it is, please let the House Fairy know. She can fly and bring it to us. If anyone is keeping it, please know that when we find you, we will be very cross! We need to find our egg, to keep it safe. Once we are sure it has been thoroughly soaked, we need to fly it to an active volcano where there is lightning, so it can hatch. Please, please, if you know where our little dragon egg chick is, please let the House Fairy know so we can get it back.
